Flesh + Bone Pilates

Pilates is a system of exercises that promotes balanced strength and flexibility. Joseph and Clara Pilates developed the method which is now nearly 100 years old. Combining Joe’s explorations in fitness, yoga and boxing with Clara’s knowledge and compassion as a nurse, they spent a lifetime applying their ideas to real people. They rehabilitated injured WW1 soldiers in England and worked to prevent injury and produce peak performance in professional athletes in New York City. From its conception, the Pilates method was designed to fit us all. It is gentle enough for a pregnant woman and challenging enough for pros. Even Jay-Z does it. It usually takes two years to become a fully certified Pilates instructor. We study anatomy and train rigorously, acquiring a deep understanding of the body. In other words, we’ll help you to do a lot more than just squeeze your ass and try harder. We provide expert instruction and focused personal attention to our clients. Each session is customized to fit your body. The results are immediate. Clare Amory at Flesh and Bone NYC Appointments or “sessions” are times that you schedule to work with an instructor at your convenience. (These can be between 6am-10pm on weekdays and from 9am-8pm on weekends). A private appointment with your instructor is the best way to experience Pilates. We cannot stress enough the value of beginning your pilates practice with private appointments. A duet is for you and a friend to book with an instructor at your convenience. Two participants are required for a duet and you must find your partner. A trio is for you and two others to book as a group at your convenience. Three participants are required for a trio; you must find your partners. Schedule 2 private appointments for $100 now! Pilates in Williamsburg NYC Classes do not require you to find partners or schedule in advance, although it’s recommended. Classes happen at set regular times. Classes are cheap and convenient. Still, you can count on quality instruction and personal attention. We limit our class size and cultivate a community of people who are devoted to their bodies and their practice. You will learn not only from your instructor but also from your (friendly) peers here. Although it isn't required, we recommend signing up online so that you know you have your space reserved.
